On January 1st,I compiled a resolution of improving my English standard.I thought if I remembered five words every day,by the end of the year,l would know about 2，000 new ones. In the light of this,my English learning would develop quickly,and what is more, if l spent thirty minutes on my oral English, before long,l would be able to talk with foreign friends.These would be An ambition,l must keep them to myself.I would let my parents have A mazing,and make them know that their daughter is determined.lf l dId they would never say that l could not hold on to anything.l was very much happy to my plan.

Yet,on new year's Eve,we stayed up by the Tv set to celebrate the new year's coming,so l had a wonderful excuse for not carrying on the resolutions,on the second day ,l bought A little notebook,wrote down 5 new words on it , this was An eastest thing to me,I learned English text by heart. In order not to be found,I carried on these in the bathroom. In addition to stay longer,my Mother opened the door to see what was going on .It was this betrayed my secret.I felt really unsettling,my parents praised me,said that l was a sensible and clever girl, and oughted to turn out well.

Step by step. I found it was not An easy thing. As l wrote down so many words ,l realized it was hard not to forget.and beside this,my homework was so much that l had no enough time to read. One day after finishing my terrible homework,it was 11.glued to my English book,my eyes tightenned,l took A nap,this was my undoing.When l woke up,it was the second morning.From then on ,whenever l picked up my English book,sleep would come'.

Little by little,my reading time fell to zero.l plead if l spend less time on reading,l woud learn more new words,and even l bought A book entitled How to Memorize Words Quickly.perhaps it would solve my problem,but up to now l have no time to read it!
